Join the Windows Experiences team as a Product Designer to own end-to-end design for moderately complex product areas, from problem definition through high-fidelity design, prototyping, and delivery. The role emphasizes visual and experience design, rapid prototyping (including vibe-coding), and using frontier AI tools to accelerate research, ideation, and testing while collaborating closely with PM and engineering teams.

Role
We are hiring a Product Designer for the Windows Experiences team to lead end-to-end design for moderately complex product areas. The role focuses on visual and experience design, prototyping, and storytelling, with an emphasis on rapid experimentation and leveraging frontier AI tools to enhance design workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end design execution from problem definition through high-fidelity design, prototyping, and delivery with minimal oversight.
- Partner closely with Product Management and Engineering to produce feasible, coherent solutions aligned with product strategy.
- Leverage frontier AI tools (e.g., AI-assisted research synthesis, ideation, prototyping, content generation) to improve speed and quality of design outcomes.
- Translate qualitative and quantitative research insights into actionable design improvements and iterate based on user feedback and product metrics.
- Create and test prototypes (low- to high-fidelity) to validate concepts, de-risk decisions, and communicate intent to stakeholders.
- Craft clear design narratives that explain the what, why, and how, linking design decisions to user needs and business outcomes.
- Actively participate in critiques, team rituals, and cross-functional collaboration; seek and incorporate feedback to improve craft.
Requirements
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, HCI, UX, Interaction Design, or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated experience working in product or service design or using design thinking to solve problems.
Preferred
- Portfolio demonstrating strong design fundamentals, well-crafted UI, clear layouts, basic systems thinking, and ability to explain tradeoffs.
- Proficiency with modern design and prototyping tools, including Figma, and experience using prototyping or “vibe-coding” tools.
- Hands-on exposure to frontier AI tools to augment design workflows (research synthesis, ideation, prototyping, content, accessibility checks, experimentation).
- Solid foundation in interaction design and UX principles, including usability, accessibility, and inclusive design best practices.
- Strong communication and storytelling skills and ability to work independently on well-scoped problems while collaborating with partners.
Compensation & Security
- Typical U.S. base pay range for this role: USD 84,200 - 165,200 per year.
- Different range for San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metro: USD 109,000 - 180,400 per year.
- This role requires passing the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
