Senior Creative Technologist, Search

Role

Senior Creative Technologist on the Google Search UX team responsible for creating high-fidelity, production-ready prototypes and interactive experiences that test and validate design concepts. The role partners with researchers, designers, interaction and motion designers, and engineers to define and deliver new features, explore novel interactions, and set the bar for polish and animation quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Conceive and deliver engaging prototypes across a portfolio of products for iteration, research, and validation.
• Collaborate with researchers and designers to define new features, test concepts, and assist with final implementation.
• Work closely with interaction and motion designers to create compelling interactive goals and animation quality.
• Partner with engineers to evaluate technologies and deliver production-ready prototypes and foundational code for testing and early production.
• Identify emerging needs, develop interaction design best practices, and contribute to pattern documentation.
• Lead or contribute to projects with a systems-thinking approach and advocate for user needs across platforms and applications.

Requirements

Minimum qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 6 years of experience in front-end development, technical UX design, or prototyping.
• Experience with web technologies: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript.
• Experience with vibe coding tools such as AI Studio, Cursor, Antigravity, or Firebase Studio.
• Experience in motion design related to physics, patterns, and visual design elements.

Preferred qualifications

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Design, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of experience in technical leadership and managing projects.
• Experience developing with front-end native iOS technologies (Swift) and Android.
• Experience working with front-end engineering teams for native app user interfaces.
• Experience working with hosted back-ends (e.g., Firebase, Supabase) to power prototypes.
• Familiarity working across full tech stacks and production environments.

Locations & Compensation

• Candidate may indicate preferred working location: San Francisco, CA; Mountain View, CA; New York, NY.
• US base salary range for this full-time position: $151,000 - $222,000 (base only). Compensation also includes bonus, equity, and benefits.
