Staff UX Designer, Developer UX

Role

Lead design efforts for AI-integrated developer tools on Google’s Core team, defining how AI transforms the software development lifecycle and building foundational design solutions used across Google’s products. Focus on envisioning and delivering intuitive, accessible, and scalable developer UX that reduces friction and accelerates developer velocity.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design goal for AI-integrated developer tools and partner with product and engineering leadership to define AI-driven developer workflows.
• Rapidly visualize, test, and iterate on novel AI interactions using high-fidelity prototyping and vibe coding.
• Distill complex technical problems into clear, usable experiences for developers and advocate for user needs throughout the design process.
• Act as a central connector across UX and developer teams, using storytelling and clear communication to build consensus and drive cross-functional impact.
• Validate and disprove hypotheses early to ensure high-value, resilient solutions.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in product design or UX.
• Experience with rapid prototyping and high-fidelity prototypes.
• Experience with AI platforms.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Design, HCI, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 12 years of experience in product design or UX.
• 5 years of experience working within a complex, cross-functional organization.

Location & Compensation

• Preferred working locations: San Francisco, CA, USA or Seattle, WA, USA.
• US base salary range: $178,000 - $265,000 (base only). Position includes eligibility for bonus, equity, and additional benefits.
