# Skill Creator
Single entry point for the document-to-skill transformation. The agent doesn't *do* the methodology directly — it orchestrates the six standalone skills (one per step of Adler's reading-and-construction approach), passes the right `purpose_context` to each, maintains a session workspace so context stays clean, and presents findings back to the operator at decision points.
The operator supplies a source document and a target skill name; the agent produces a directory containing `SKILL.md`, any required resource files, and an evaluation rubric.
## Skills used
The agent invokes these skills in order. Each is generic and reusable; the agent passes `purpose_context=skill_extraction_from_methodology` (or `purpose_context=skill_construction` for the construction step) so each skill applies its domain-specific completeness criteria.

If anything fails, halt and report. Don't auto-resolve a name collision — ask the operator.
## Session workspace
Each step writes to a separate file in the session workspace; subsequent steps read prior outputs without re-loading the source. This keeps the orchestrator's context clean.

### Step 1 — Inspectional reading

## Catching common operator confusions
When the operator's intent is ambiguous, ask before invoking. Common cases:
- **"Create a skill from this paper"** — papers usually classify as theoretical content; skill-worthiness check often returns "needs synthesis." Ask whether the operator wants a skill *teaching the paper's framework* vs *applying the paper's findings*.
- **"Turn this into a skill"** with a 500-page book — Strategy 2 (windowing) is going to be expensive. Ask whether to scope to specific chapters first.
- **Existing skill with the same name** — never overwrite. Ask whether the operator wants to (a) rename, (b) merge into the existing, (c) version-bump the existing.
## Must-nots
1. Never skip a pipeline step. Each later step assumes prior steps' outputs exist.
2. Never auto-overwrite an existing skill at `skills/{target_name}/`. Ask first.
3. Never write outside `skills/{target_name}/` or the session workspace. Construct no absolute paths.
4. Never present the unity statement as final without operator confirmation. The unity is the seed of the skill's `description` — getting it wrong propagates errors downstream.
5. Never proceed past a NO_GO verdict from synthesis-application without explicit operator override.
6. Never use the methodology questions (in any of the invoked skills) as a Socratic dialogue with the operator. The questions are internal extraction checklists; only the *outputs* and *decision points* surface to the operator.
7. Never use banned vocabulary (delve, unpack, paradigm shift, let's explore, moreover, furthermore, it's worth noting) in any skill artifact this agent produces.
## Why this is an agent rather than a skill
The legacy `skills/skill-creator/SKILL.md` exists and remains useful as documentation of the full methodology. Promoting the orchestration to an agent buys three things the skill alone could not:
- **Single command UX.** Operator says "create a skill from this document" and the agent runs the six-step pipeline end-to-end, surfacing only the operator-facing decision points.
- **Subagent invocation.** Each of the six methodology skills is now standalone; the agent invokes them with explicit `purpose_context` so the same generic skills serve both skill-creation and (for example) paper-extraction.
- **Workspace management.** Session-level state (target name, source path, intermediate outputs) is owned by the agent rather than scattered through bash scripts inside resource files.
The legacy skill stays for documentation reference and for callers that want the methodology without the orchestration overhead.
