An MCP server that inspects, measures, and compares 3D CAD STEP files locally using the Open CASCADE kernel. It answers geometry questions such as dimensions, wall thickness, draft angles, hole types, and differences between model revisions without modifying the files.
From the registry: STEP file inspection for AI. Measure walls, draft angles, clearances. Returns facts, not guesses.
Please install the `cad-mcp-server` MCP server into my current AI client (that's you).
Required prerequisites (do these first if not already done):
- **Install Node.js 24+** — Node.js version 24 or newer is required to run the MCP server via npx.
- **Have STEP files available** — The server operates on STEP files exported from a CAD system such as SolidWorks, FreeCAD, Fusion 360, or CATIA.
Canonical MCP server config (stdio transport):
- command: `npx`
- args: ["-y","cad-mcp-server"]
Note: The README describes a local stdio MCP server with no required environment variables, Docker, CAD software, cloud service, or API key setup.
Add this MCP server to my current client's config in the correct format for you. If you need secrets or credentials I haven't provided, ASK me — do not invent values or leave raw placeholders. After adding it, tell me how to verify the server is connected.AI orchestration with hive-mind swarms, neural networks, and 87 MCP tools for enterprise dev.
Persistent codebase knowledge graph. Survives session restarts and context compaction.
A powerful toolkit for coding, providing semantic retrieval and editing capabilities.
