Clarik is an MCP server that adds persistent local memory, checkpoints, and context trimming for Claude Desktop and Claude Code. It also provides project isolation and safety guards for file edits and assumptions.

Required prerequisites (do these first if not already done):
- **Node.js / npm available** — Clarik is installed and run via npx, so a working Node.js and npm environment is required. (https://npmjs.com/package/clarik)
Optional prerequisites:
- Optional Pro license activation — Activate a Clarik Pro license key if you want the paid tools. Free tools do not require a license. Run: `npx clarik activate <your-license-key>` (https://adshieldpro.gumroad.com/l/ClaricRPCFramework)

Note: README recommends `npx clarik install`, which auto-detects and writes client-specific MCP config for Claude Desktop and Claude Code. Canonical transport is stdio only; HTTP and SSE are explicitly unsupported. No MCP-specific environment variables are documented. Windows may use an automatic `cmd /c` wrapper when written by the installer, but the portable canonical command is `npx clarik`.
