MCP server that exposes Dokmatiq DocGen document generation and PDF/Excel/e-invoicing/receipt-processing APIs to AI assistants. It supports creating and transforming documents, handling PDFs, templates, fonts, digital signatures, Excel workbooks, ZUGFeRD/XRechnung validation, and receipt extraction/export workflows.
From the registry: PDF/DOCX/Excel generation with stationery overlay, ZUGFeRD/XRechnung, signing, receipt OCR.
$ pip install dokmatiq-docgen-mcpPlease install the `docgen` MCP server into my current AI client (that's you).
Required prerequisites (do these first if not already done):
- **Install Python 3.11+** — Python 3.11 or newer is required to run the MCP server.
- **Install the DocGen MCP package** — Install the published Python package. The README also shows a source install path, but the packaged install is the simplest portable option. Run: `pip install dokmatiq-docgen-mcp`
- **Obtain a Dokmatiq DocGen API key** — Create or obtain a DocGen API key for authenticating requests to the Dokmatiq DocGen API. (https://dokmatiq.com)
Canonical MCP server config (stdio transport):
- command: `docgen-mcp`
- args: []
- required environment variables:
- `DOCGEN_API_KEY`: Dokmatiq DocGen API key used to authenticate with the document generation API. (example: `<your-docgen-api-key>`)
- optional environment variables:
- `DOCGEN_BASE_URL`: Optional base URL override for the DocGen API endpoint. (example: `<your-docgen-base-url>`)
Note: The README also shows an alternative stdio launch method using uvx: command `uvx` with args `["dokmatiq-docgen-mcp"]`. Do not use shell placeholders like `${DOCGEN_API_KEY}` in MCP JSON configs unless your client explicitly supports expansion.
Add this MCP server to my current client's config in the correct format for you. If you need secrets or credentials I haven't provided, ASK me — do not invent values or leave raw placeholders. After adding it, tell me how to verify the server is connected.DOCGEN_API_KEYrequiredAPI key used to authenticate with the Dokmatiq DocGen APIComprehensive PostgreSQL documentation and best practices, including ecosystem tools
