An MCP server that wraps the Duplicati REST API so an LLM can manage backup jobs, inspect status, and modify backup configurations. It also provides read-only SQLite-backed history and diagnostics tools when a Duplicati database path is configured.
From the registry: MCP server for Duplicati backup management — list, run, monitor and configure jobs from an LLM.
$ brew install uvPlease install the `duplicati-mcp` MCP server into my current AI client (that's you).
Required prerequisites (do these first if not already done):
- **Install uv** — Install the uv Python package manager/runner to launch the server locally via stdio. Run: `brew install uv`
- **Have a reachable Duplicati instance** — You need access to a running Duplicati server and its URL.
Canonical MCP server config (stdio transport):
- command: `uv`
- args: ["run","duplicati-mcp"]
- required environment variables:
- `DUPLICATI_URL`: URL of the Duplicati instance the MCP server should connect to. (example: `<your-duplicati-url>`)
- optional environment variables:
- `DUPLICATI_PASSWORD`: Password for the Duplicati web interface. Leave unset or empty if no password is configured. (example: `<your-duplicati-password>`)
- `DUPLICATI_READONLY`: Set to true/1/yes to disable write operations and allow read-only access. (example: `<true-or-1-or-yes>`)
- `DUPLICATI_DB_PATH`: Path to Duplicati-server.sqlite to enable additional read-only SQLite-backed db_* tools. (example: `<path-to-Duplicati-server.sqlite>`)
Note: The README also documents a Streamable HTTP deployment for Docker/remote use. Canonical local config uses stdio with uv. MCP_TRANSPORT and MCP_PORT are runtime/container settings and are not needed in the stdio client config. If you deploy the server over HTTP instead, the endpoint path is /mcp.
Add this MCP server to my current client's config in the correct format for you. If you need secrets or credentials I haven't provided, ASK me — do not invent values or leave raw placeholders.
