Earthquake Mcp Server

Please install the `earthquake-mcp-server` MCP server into my current AI client (that's you).

Required prerequisites (do these first if not already done):
- **Install Node.js** — Required to run the recommended npx-based local stdio server. (https://nodejs.org/)

Optional prerequisites:
- No API key required — USGS and EMSC data sources are public; no API keys or account setup are needed.

Canonical MCP server config (stdio transport):

  - `MCP_GC_PRESSURE_INTERVAL_MS`: Opt-in Bun-only forced-GC pressure loop interval in milliseconds. (example: `<milliseconds>`)
  - `LOGS_DIR`: Directory for log files when running on Node.js. (example: `<your-logs-directory>`)
  - `STORAGE_PROVIDER_TYPE`: Storage backend type. (example: `in-memory`)
  - `USGS_BASE_URL`: Override the USGS API base URL for testing or mirroring. (example: `<your-usgs-base-url>`)
  - `EMSC_BASE_URL`: Override the EMSC API base URL for testing or mirroring. (example: `<your-emsc-base-url>`)
  - `DEFAULT_LIMIT`: Default result limit for earthquake_search. (example: `<result-limit>`)
  - `REQUEST_TIMEOUT_MS`: HTTP timeout in milliseconds for upstream API calls. (example: `<timeout-ms>`)
  - `OTEL_ENABLED`: Enable OpenTelemetry tracing. (example: `<true-or-false>`)

Note: README also provides a hosted Streamable HTTP endpoint at https://earthquake.caseyjhand.com/mcp and documents self-hosted HTTP mode. Canonical local install path is npx per README guidance. For self-hosted HTTP mode, relevant env vars include MCP_TRANSPORT_TYPE=http, MCP_HTTP_PORT, MCP_HTTP_ENDPOINT_PATH, MCP_PUBLIC_URL, and optional auth settings, but no canonical HTTP launch command using npx is provided in MCP config form.
