This MCP server exposes Fast News API endpoints for searching news, browsing trending headlines, topic categories, and local news through MCP tools. It is hosted on RapidAPI and connects via mcp-remote, requiring a RapidAPI API key.
From the registry: Free search, trending, topics & local news via the Fast News with Previews API on RapidAPI.
Please install the `fast-news` MCP server into my current AI client (that's you).
Required prerequisites (do these first if not already done):
- **Install Node.js** — Node.js is required to run the server via npx, which automatically installs mcp-remote. (https://nodejs.org/)
- **Get a RapidAPI subscription and API key** — Subscribe to the Fast News API on RapidAPI and copy your API key from the Endpoints tab. (https://rapidapi.com/SemicolonBandit/api/fast-news-with-previews)
Canonical MCP server config (stdio transport):
- command: `npx`
- args: ["mcp-remote","https://mcp.rapidapi.com","--header","x-api-host: fast-news-with-previews.p.rapidapi.com","--header","x-api-key: <your-rapidapi-key>"]
Note: Preferred install path is the stdio wrapper using npx and mcp-remote. The README also documents a secondary npm wrapper package (@wllrdev/fast-news-mcp) that uses RAPIDAPI_KEY as an environment variable, but the README explicitly says to prefer the mcp-remote quick start. OpenCode shows a native remote HTTP-style configuration to https://mcp.rapidapi.com with headers x-api-host and x-api-key, but the primary canonical MCP config in the README is the stdio npx mcp-remote form.
Add this MCP server to my current client's config in the correct format for you. If you need secrets or credentials I haven't provided, ASK me — do not invent values or leave raw placeholders. After adding it, tell me how to verify the server is connected.RAPIDAPI_KEYrequiredRapidAPI API key used by the npm package wrapper for authenticating requests.Meta Ads MCP (Facebook + Instagram) - analyze performance, manage budgets, pause campaigns.
