Prerequisites

Create a fine-grained or classic GitHub personal access token with permissions you want to expose

Please install the `github-mcp-server-github` MCP server into my current AI client (that's you).

Optional prerequisites:
- GitHub PAT (optional for OAuth hosts) — Create a fine-grained or classic GitHub personal access token with permissions you want to expose (https://github.com/settings/personal-access-tokens/new)

Canonical MCP server config (HTTP transport):

Note: Official GitHub hosted remote MCP server. Many clients (VS Code, Claude Desktop) also support OAuth login instead of passing a Bearer token. For local use, there is also a Docker image at ghcr.io/github/github-mcp-server.

Add this MCP server to my current client's config in the correct format for you. If you need secrets or credentials I haven't provided, ASK me — do not invent values or leave raw placeholders. After adding it, tell me how to verify the server is connected.
