This MCP server facilitates automation of the GNOME Wayland desktop by providing inspection and interaction capabilities through AT-SPI and Mutter RemoteDesktop.
From the registry: GNOME Wayland desktop automation via AT-SPI discovery and Mutter input.
Please install the `gnome-ui-mcp` MCP server into my current AI client (that's you).
Required prerequisites (do these first if not already done):
- **Linux + GNOME Shell on Wayland** — Live local GNOME/Wayland session on the host
- **Docker** — Docker Engine on the host (https://www.docker.com/)
Canonical MCP server config (stdio transport):
- command: `docker`
- args: ["run","--rm","--security-opt","apparmor=unconfined","--network","host","--user","1000:1000","-e","DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS=unix:path=/run/user/1000/bus","-e","XDG_RUNTIME_DIR=/run/user/1000","-e","WAYLAND_DISPLAY=wayland-0","-e","DISPLAY=:0","-e","XDG_SESSION_TYPE=wayland","-v","/run/user/1000:/run/user/1000","-v","/tmp/.X11-unix:/tmp/.X11-unix:ro","ghcr.io/asattelmaier/gnome-ui-mcp:latest"]
Note: Adjust the user ID, DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS, and runtime dir to match your actual GNOME session. Also supports streamable-http and sse transports via `--transport` arg.
Add this MCP server to my current client's config in the correct format for you. If you need secrets or credentials I haven't provided, ASK me — do not invent values or leave raw placeholders.
