An MCP server that exposes GroupDocs.Annotation document annotation features as AI-callable tools. It can add, list, update, remove, import, and export annotations, generate page previews, and fetch document info.
From the registry: MCP server for GroupDocs.Annotation — add, list, update, remove document annotations via AI agents.
$ sudo apt-get install -y libgdiplus libfontconfig1 ttf-mscorefonts-installer$ brew install mono-libgdiplusPlease install the `groupdocs-annotation-mcp` MCP server into my current AI client (that's you).
Required prerequisites (do these first if not already done):
- **.NET 10 SDK** — Install the .NET 10 SDK to run the server natively with dnx or as a global dotnet tool. (https://dotnet.microsoft.com/download/dotnet/10.0/)
Optional prerequisites:
- Native graphics dependencies for Linux — When running natively on Linux, install libgdiplus, libfontconfig1, and ttf-mscorefonts-installer. Not required when using Docker. Run: `sudo apt-get install -y libgdiplus libfontconfig1 ttf-mscorefonts-installer`
- Native graphics dependencies for macOS — When running natively on macOS, install mono-libgdiplus. Not required when using Docker. Run: `brew install mono-libgdiplus`
Canonical MCP server config (stdio transport):
- command: `dnx`
- args: ["GroupDocs.Annotation.Mcp","--yes"]
- optional environment variables:
- `GROUPDOCS_MCP_STORAGE_PATH`: Base folder for input and output files. Defaults to the current directory. (example: `<your-documents-folder>`)
- `GROUPDOCS_MCP_OUTPUT_PATH`: Optional separate folder for output files. Defaults to GROUPDOCS_MCP_STORAGE_PATH. (example: `<your-output-folder>`)
- `GROUPDOCS_LICENSE_PATH`: Path to a GroupDocs license file. If omitted, the server runs in evaluation mode. (example: `<your-license-file-path>`)
Note: Preferred install path is running directly with dnx. To pin a version, replace the package arg with GroupDocs.Annotation.Mcp@<version>. Docker is also supported, but the README does not provide a canonical MCP config command/args/env shape for client config using Docker.
Add this MCP server to my current client's config in the correct format for you. If you need secrets or credentials I haven't provided, ASK me — do not invent values or leave raw placeholders.
