An MCP server that provides read-only access to Jaeger distributed tracing data over stdio. It lets MCP clients list services and operations, search traces, fetch full trace details, and view service dependency graphs.
From the registry: Jaeger MCP — search traces, inspect spans, map service dependencies (read-only).
$ pip install jaeger-mcphttps://pypi.org/project/jaeger-mcp/Please install the `jaeger-mcp` MCP server into my current AI client (that's you).
Required prerequisites (do these first if not already done):
- **Set Jaeger connection details** — Provide the Jaeger query service URL. Optionally provide either a bearer token or HTTP Basic auth credentials if your Jaeger deployment requires authentication.
Optional prerequisites:
- Install jaeger-mcp — Install the MCP server from PyPI so the `jaeger-mcp` command is available. Run: `pip install jaeger-mcp` (https://pypi.org/project/jaeger-mcp/)
Canonical MCP server config (stdio transport):
- command: `uvx`
- args: ["jaeger-mcp"]
- required environment variables:
- `JAEGER_URL`: Jaeger query service URL. (example: `<your-jaeger-url>`)
- optional environment variables:
- `JAEGER_TOKEN`: Bearer token for authentication. Takes precedence over Basic auth. (example: `<your-jaeger-token>`)
- `JAEGER_USERNAME`: HTTP Basic auth username. (example: `<your-jaeger-username>`)
- `JAEGER_PASSWORD`: HTTP Basic auth password. (example: `<your-jaeger-password>`)
- `JAEGER_SSL_VERIFY`: Whether to verify TLS certificates. Set to `false` for self-signed certificates. (example: `<true-or-false>`)
Note: The README provides both an installed CLI path (`jaeger-mcp`) and a no-install path (`uvx jaeger-mcp`). Per the portable-preference rule, the canonical config uses `uvx`. Authentication can be unauthenticated, bearer token, or HTTP Basic auth.
Add this MCP server to my current client's config in the correct format for you. If you need secrets or credentials I haven't provided, ASK me — do not invent values or leave raw placeholders.
