Lucent is a Python tooling suite for creating, auditing, verifying, and attesting ERC-7730 Clear Signing descriptors for Ethereum contracts. Its MCP server exposes contract safety checks, human-readable signature explanations, and contract danger scans so agents can preflight transaction signing decisions.
From the registry: Pre-sign transaction-safety checks for signing agents (ERC-7730 descriptors).
$ make setup$ export ETHERSCAN_API_KEY=<your-etherscan-api-key>Please install the `lucent` MCP server into my current AI client (that's you).
Required prerequisites (do these first if not already done):
- **Set up Python environment and dependencies** — Create the virtual environment and install requirements. Requires Python 3.12+. Run: `make setup`
- **Etherscan API key** — Set an Etherscan API key for stages that read on-chain data. Practical default: the server's contract scanning/checking functionality may need it. Run: `export ETHERSCAN_API_KEY=<your-etherscan-api-key>`
Canonical MCP server config (stdio transport):
- command: `.venv/bin/python`
- args: ["scripts/mcp_server.py"]
- required environment variables:
- `ETHERSCAN_API_KEY`: Etherscan API key used for on-chain data access and contract scanning/checking. (example: `<your-etherscan-api-key>`)
Note: Run the MCP server from the repository root after setup. The README also shows `make mcp` as a convenience wrapper, but the canonical stdio shape is invoking `scripts/mcp_server.py` with the project virtualenv Python.
Add this MCP server to my current client's config in the correct format for you. If you need secrets or credentials I haven't provided, ASK me — do not invent values or leave raw placeholders. After adding it, tell me how to verify the server is connected.ETHERSCAN_API_KEYrequiredFree Etherscan API key needed for stages that read on-chain data.Dead code, security, secrets detection and code quality for Python, TypeScript, Go.
