mcp-broker is a local MCP process broker that presents one stable MCP entry to clients and routes tool calls to configured upstream MCP servers. It manages upstream startup, reuse, cleanup, profile-based exposure, and a compact search/describe/call/status facade to reduce loaded tool definitions.
From the registry: Local MCP broker that exposes one compact entry for many upstream servers.
$ pipx install mcp-broker$ mcp-broker stdio --init-if-missing$ make config-initPlease install the `mcp-broker` MCP server into my current AI client (that's you).
Required prerequisites (do these first if not already done):
- **Install Python 3.10+** — Python 3.10 or newer must be available as `python3`.
- **Install mcp-broker package** — Install the packaged `mcp-broker` tool. The README lists `pipx`, `uv tool`, and Homebrew options; the simplest portable packaged path is `pipx install mcp-broker`. Run: `pipx install mcp-broker`
- **Initialize broker config if missing** — Create the local broker runtime/config on first use. Run: `mcp-broker stdio --init-if-missing`
- **Create and edit private broker configuration** — Create `config/broker.private.yaml` from the example and configure local upstreams. Secrets should be provided via environment variable names or files under the broker secrets directory rather than hardcoded in config. Run: `make config-init`
Canonical MCP server config (stdio transport):
- command: `mcp-broker`
- args: ["stdio","--init-if-missing"]
Note: The MCP client connects to the broker via the stdio shim. The broker itself uses local runtime state under `$HOME/mcp/mcp-broker` and requires a user-configured `config/broker.private.yaml` describing upstream MCP servers. No specific environment variables for the MCP client entry are documented in this README; upstream-specific secrets are configured separately in the broker's private config and secret files.
Add this MCP server to my current client's config in the correct format for you. If you need secrets or credentials I haven't provided, ASK me — do not invent values or leave raw placeholders. After adding it, tell me how to verify the server is connected.Meta Ads MCP (Facebook + Instagram) - analyze performance, manage budgets, pause campaigns.
