An MCP server for the Shopify Admin GraphQL API that lets an AI agent read and modify Shopify store data such as products, orders, customers, inventory, draft orders, collections, locations, and metafields. It authenticates with Shopify Dev Dashboard OAuth client credentials and exchanges them for Admin API access tokens.
From the registry: Shopify Admin GraphQL API: products, orders, customers, inventory, and more (read and write).
Please install the `mcp-server-shopify` MCP server into my current AI client (that's you).
Required prerequisites (do these first if not already done):
- **Install Node.js and npx** — You need Node.js available so the server can be launched with npx.
- **Create a Shopify Dev Dashboard app** — Create a Shopify app in the Shopify Dev Dashboard, release the needed Admin API scopes, install the app to your store, and copy the Client ID and Client Secret. (https://dev.shopify.com/dashboard/)
- **Grant required Shopify Admin API scopes** — For full v0.1 functionality, configure and release these scopes in your app: read_products, write_products, read_customers, write_customers, read_orders, write_orders, read_draft_orders, write_draft_orders, read_inventory, write_inventory, read_locations, read_publications.
Optional prerequisites:
- Optional protected customer data approval — If you need customer-bearing tools, apply for Shopify protected customer data approval; otherwise those tools will return Shopify's approval error. (https://shopify.dev/docs/apps/launch/protected-customer-data)
Canonical MCP server config (stdio transport):
- command: `npx`
- args: ["-y","@aiwerk/mcp-server-shopify"]
- required environment variables:
- `SHOPIFY_STORE_DOMAIN`: Your Shopify store domain. (example: `<your-store>.myshopify.com`)
- `SHOPIFY_CLIENT_ID`: Client ID from your Shopify Dev Dashboard app. (example: `<your-client-id>`)
- `SHOPIFY_CLIENT_SECRET`: Client Secret from your Shopify Dev Dashboard app. (example: `<your-client-secret>`)
Note: Uses Shopify OAuth client_credentials flow. Legacy shpat_* custom-app tokens are not supported. The server automatically exchanges client credentials for an Admin API access token and refreshes it before expiry.
Add this MCP server to my current client's config in the correct format for you. If you need secrets or credentials I haven't provided, ASK me — do not invent values or leave raw placeholders.
