An MCP server that provides durable shared state for distributed agents, including a key-value store, workflow lifecycle tracking, leases, session snapshots, and audit/history access. It supports SQLite or Redis backends and can run over HTTP SSE or stdio.

Prerequisites

Canonical MCP server config (stdio transport):

- optional environment variables:
- `STATE_BACKEND`: Storage backend to use: sqlite or redis. Defaults to sqlite. (example: `sqlite`)
- `DB_PATH`: Path to the SQLite database file. Used when STATE_BACKEND=sqlite. (example: `<your-db-path>`)
- `REDIS_URL`: Redis connection URL. Required in practice when STATE_BACKEND=redis. (example: `<your-redis-url>`)
- `SIDECAR_HOST`: IP host to bind the HTTP SSE server. Relevant for HTTP mode. (example: `<your-host>`)
- `SIDECAR_PORT`: Port for the HTTP SSE server. Relevant for HTTP mode. (example: `<your-port>`)
Note: The README documents both stdio and HTTP SSE launch modes. Canonical stdio command: mcp-state-sidecar. HTTP SSE command is mcp-state-sidecar-http, with endpoint /mcp and environment variables SIDECAR_HOST and SIDECAR_PORT controlling bind host and port.
