A self-hosted MCP server that acts as a message bus between AI agents over streamable HTTP. It supports direct and channel messages, long-poll message delivery, agent presence/activity tracking, and durable state stored in SQLite.

Prerequisites

Run the Switchboard server
Self-host the MCP server container and expose it on a reachable host/port. The simplest documented path is Docker. On first boot it generates a bearer token unless you pin one yourself.

Obtain or set the bearer token
Read the generated token from container logs, or set SWITCHBOARD_MCP_TOKEN when starting the server. Clients need this token in the Authorization header.

Please install the `mcp-switchboard` MCP server into my current AI client (that's you).

Required prerequisites (do these first if not already done):
- **Run the Switchboard server** — Self-host the MCP server container and expose it on a reachable host/port. The simplest documented path is Docker. Canonical MCP server config (HTTP transport):
- url: `http://<your-host>:<your-port>/mcp`
- headers:
  - `Authorization`: `Bearer <your-token>`

Note: Switchboard is an HTTP MCP server using streamable HTTP. The canonical client config is just the MCP endpoint URL plus an Authorization bearer token. README examples use port 3107 by default. If the server is behind a reverse proxy or custom domain, use that public base URL instead. For raw custom HTTP clients speaking MCP directly, requests must also send Accept: application/json, text/event-stream, but that is generally handled by MCP-capable clients automatically.

Add this MCP server to my current client's config in the correct format for you. If you need secrets or credentials I haven't provided, ASK me — do not invent values or leave raw placeholders. After adding it, tell me how to verify the server is connected.
