An MCP server for discovering NOAA CO-OPS tide/current/water-level stations and NDBC buoys, and for fetching tide predictions, observed water levels, tidal currents, and live buoy conditions. It supports STDIO and Streamable HTTP transports.
From the registry: Find NOAA tide stations and NDBC buoys, fetch tide predictions, currents, and live conditions.
Please install the `noaa-marine-mcp-server` MCP server into my current AI client (that's you).
Required prerequisites (do these first if not already done):
- **Install Node.js or Bun** — Install Bun v1.3.11+ or Node.js v24+ to run the server locally. Prefer Node.js if using the npx install path. (https://bun.sh/)
Canonical MCP server config (stdio transport):
- command: `npx`
- args: ["-y","@cyanheads/noaa-marine-mcp-server@latest"]
- required environment variables:
- `MCP_TRANSPORT_TYPE`: Transport mode for local MCP client connections. For stdio configuration, set this to stdio. (example: `stdio`)
- optional environment variables:
- `MCP_LOG_LEVEL`: Log level in RFC 5424 format. (example: `info`)
- `NOAA_APPLICATION_ID`: Courtesy identifier sent as application= on CO-OPS requests. (example: `<your-application-id>`)
- `MCP_AUTH_MODE`: Auth mode: none, jwt, or oauth. (example: `none`)
- `LOGS_DIR`: Directory for log files (Node.js only). (example: `<your-logs-directory>`)
- `OTEL_ENABLED`: Enable OpenTelemetry instrumentation. (example: `<true-or-false>`)
Note: No API key is required. A public hosted Streamable HTTP endpoint is also available at https://noaa-marine.caseyjhand.com/mcp, but the simplest portable self-hosted config is the stdio npx path. If you want HTTP instead of stdio for self-hosting, the README says to run with MCP_TRANSPORT_TYPE=http and MCP_HTTP_PORT set, and the server listens at /mcp.
Add this MCP server to my current client's config in the correct format for you. If you need secrets or credentials I haven't provided, ASK me — do not invent values or leave raw placeholders. After adding it, tell me how to verify the server is connected.NOAA_APPLICATION_IDCourtesy identifier sent as the CO-OPS application parameter on NOAA requests.MCP_TRANSPORT_TYPESelects the transport mode, either stdio or http.MCP_HTTP_PORTPort used when running the HTTP server.MCP_AUTH_MODEAuth mode for the server: none, jwt, or oauth.MCP_LOG_LEVELLogging verbosity level.LOGS_DIRDirectory for log files when running under Node.js.OTEL_ENABLEDEnables OpenTelemetry instrumentation.Meta Ads MCP (Facebook + Instagram) - analyze performance, manage budgets, pause campaigns.
