An MCP server that exposes OneBusAway transit API data, including stops, routes, real-time arrivals, vehicle positions, trips, and schedules. It supports STDIO and Streamable HTTP transport.

Install & configure
Prerequisites
- requiredInstall Node.js or BunInstall Bun v1.3.0+ or Node.js v24+ to run the server. The simplest portable path in the README uses npx, which requires Node.js.https://bun.sh/

Required prerequisites (do these first if not already done):

- `ONEBUSAWAY_API_KEY`: OneBusAway API key. `TEST` works on the default Puget Sound instance for development; use your own key for production or other instances. (example: `<your-onebusaway-api-key>`)
- optional environment variables:
- `MCP_LOG_LEVEL`: Log level for server output. (example: `info`)
- `ONEBUSAWAY_BASE_URL`: Base URL for the OneBusAway instance to query. If omitted, the server defaults to the Puget Sound instance. (example: `<your-onebusaway-base-url>`)
Note: README also documents Streamable HTTP support, started locally with `MCP_TRANSPORT_TYPE=http` and `MCP_HTTP_PORT`, but it does not provide a canonical MCP client HTTP config snippet. A public hosted server is listed at `https://onebusaway.caseyjhand.com/mcp`. Additional optional env vars mentioned in the README include `MCP_HTTP_PORT`, `MCP_HTTP_ENDPOINT_PATH`, `MCP_AUTH_MODE`, `LOGS_DIR`, `STORAGE_PROVIDER_TYPE`, and `OTEL_ENABLED`.
