Sentry's MCP service acts as middleware to the upstream Sentry API, optimized for coding assistants and developer workflows. It supports AI-powered search tools and can be run against self-hosted Sentry installations.
From the registry: MCP server for Sentry - error monitoring, issue tracking, and debugging for AI assistants
Please install the `sentry-mcp` MCP server into my current AI client (that's you).
Required prerequisites (do these first if not already done):
- **Sentry User Auth Token** — Create a User Auth Token in Sentry with scopes: org:read, project:read, project:write, team:read, team:write, event:write (https://sentry.io/settings/account/api/auth-tokens/)
Canonical MCP server config (stdio transport):
- command: `npx`
- args: ["@sentry/mcp-server"]
- required environment variables:
- `SENTRY_ACCESS_TOKEN`: Sentry User Auth Token (example: `<your-sentry-auth-token>`)
- optional environment variables:
- `EMBEDDED_AGENT_PROVIDER`: LLM provider for AI-powered search tools: 'openai' or 'anthropic' (example: `openai`)
- `OPENAI_API_KEY`: OpenAI API key (required if EMBEDDED_AGENT_PROVIDER=openai) (example: `sk-<your-openai-api-key>`)
- `ANTHROPIC_API_KEY`: Anthropic API key (required if EMBEDDED_AGENT_PROVIDER=anthropic) (example: `<your-anthropic-api-key>`)
- `SENTRY_HOST`: For self-hosted Sentry deployments (hostname only, e.g. sentry.example.com) (example: `sentry.example.com`)
- `MCP_DISABLE_SKILLS`: Comma-separated skills to disable (e.g. 'seer' for self-hosted without Seer) (example: `seer`)
Note: Official Sentry MCP. Remote hosted at mcp.sentry.dev (OAuth). Stdio mode for self-hosted Sentry. AI-powered search tools require LLM API key. Claude Code plugin available: 'claude plugin install sentry-mcp@sentry-mcp'.
Add this MCP server to my current client's config in the correct format for you. If you need secrets or credentials I haven't provided, ASK me — do not invent values or leave raw placeholders. After adding it, tell me how to verify the server is connected.SENTRY_ACCESS_TOKENrequiredYour Sentry auth tokenEMBEDDED_AGENT_PROVIDERrequiredSpecifies the LLM provider ('openai' or 'anthropic')OPENAI_API_KEYrequiredRequired if using OpenAI as the LLM providerANTHROPIC_API_KEYrequiredRequired if using Anthropic as the LLM providerReal-time Kubernetes network traffic visibility and API analysis for HTTP, gRPC, Redis, Kafka, DNS.
