This MCP server provides a Command Line Interface for Workflowy, allowing users to connect AI assistants to their Workflowy data and perform various operations such as search, bulk replace, and usage reports.

Prerequisites

Please install the `workflowy` MCP server into my current AI client (that's you).
Required prerequisites (do these first if not already done):
- **Workflowy API Key** — Get at https://workflowy.com/api-key/ Run: `mkdir -p ~/.workflowy && echo 'your-api-key' > ~/.workflowy/api.key` (https://workflowy.com/api-key/)
- **workflowy-cli binary** — Install via Homebrew or Scoop Run: `brew install mholzen/workflowy/workflowy-cli`
Canonical MCP server config (stdio transport):

- args: ["mcp","--expose=all"]
Note: Remove --expose=all to limit to read-only tools. Also available as Docker image. Go-based binary.
