Install & configure
Prerequisites

Install in your client

Please install the `zulipchat` MCP server into my current AI client (that's you).
Required prerequisites (do these first if not already done):
- **uv** — uv package manager is required to run via uvx Run: `curl -LsSf https://astral.sh/uv/install.sh | sh` (https://docs.astral.sh/uv/)
- **Zulip API credentials** — A Zulip zuliprc file is required. Go to Zulip Settings > Personal > Account & privacy > API key to download it. (https://zulip.com/api/)
Canonical MCP server config (stdio transport):

Note: Zulip chat MCP server. 19 core tools by default; use --extended-tools flag for ~55 tools. Supports dual identity with --zulip-bot-config-file. Use `ZULIPCHAT_EXTENDED_TOOLS=1` env var to enable extended mode. Run `uvx zulipchat-mcp-setup` for interactive onboarding.
