About the Role

Build and maintain platform tools and high-throughput backend systems that enable product engineers and AI teams to iterate rapidly on Replit Agent experiences. This role combines systems engineering, developer experience, and product-minded thinking to power collaborative, real-time agentic workflows.

Job Description

Role

Replit seeks an Agent Platform Engineer to build tools and infrastructure that accelerate iteration on the Agent experience and improve the core Agent. The role bridges AI engineering and UX/product teams and covers work across browser-based interfaces, high-performance backends, and Linux systems engineering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build high-throughput backend applications and services (e.g., streaming chat between user and agent).
  • Design a collaborative “Multiplayer Computer” enabling humans and AI agents to work together on shared shells, filesystems, and state in real time and conflict-free.
  • Develop frontend and backend infrastructure to empower product engineers to ship user experiences quickly.
  • Design and implement durable interfaces between the Agent and internal/external agentic systems (MCP).

Requirements

  • 5+ years professional experience building backend services, systems, and platforms.
  • Strong product sense with an emphasis on simplicity and pragmatic delivery.
  • Self-directed and comfortable working autonomously.
  • Collaborative, team-oriented, and accountable for shared ownership.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Full-stack experience.
  • Experience building AI-powered tooling or products.
  • Experience with collaborative editing technologies such as Operational Transforms (OT), CRDTs, or deep knowledge of Git internals.
  • Experience with event sourcing systems.

Location & Schedule

  • Full-time role based in Foster City, CA. Hybrid in-office requirement: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Compensation range provided: $180,000 – $260,000 (USD).
