Role
We are hiring an AI Automation Test Engineer to migrate and modernize Java Selenium suites to Playwright (TypeScript/JavaScript) and to build scalable, AI-augmented test automation for web and mobile. The role focuses on framework design, migration planning and execution, AI-enabled test generation and triage, and CI/CD integration to improve execution speed, flakiness, and maintenance effort.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Playwright automation suites in TypeScript/JavaScript across Chromium, Firefox, and WebKit. Implement Page Object Model / fixtures, reusable components, config-driven environments, and parallel/sharded execution.
- Implement API testing within Playwright (request context) and use Postman/Newman where required. Use Playwright tracing, video, screenshots, and network interception/mocking. Implement visual regression and accessibility checks (axe-core, Playwright snapshots).
- Audit existing Java Selenium suites to determine coverage, redundancy, flakiness, and migration scope. Define migration strategy, wave planning, and coexistence approach; convert Selenium/TestNG/Java patterns to Playwright/Node equivalents and run both suites in parallel until parity is proven.
- Apply AI tooling and MCP/agent frameworks to accelerate test case generation, test data synthesis, script scaffolding, self-healing locators, failure triage, and risk-based regression selection. Validate AI outputs and own correctness.
- Automate mobile (Android/iOS) using Appium and Playwright for mobile web; execute on emulators, real devices, and cloud device farms (BrowserStack, Sauce Labs, LambdaTest). Ensure compatibility across OS versions and form factors.
- Integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitLab CI); containerize execution (Docker) and manage parallel/grid execution. Publish QA metrics and manage defects in Jira. Participate in Agile ceremonies and mentor junior QA engineers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/CS/IT or related field.
- 5–7 years overall test automation experience; at least 2 years hands-on Playwright in production.
- Demonstrable experience migrating Java Selenium suites to Playwright and quantifying outcomes (execution time, flakiness, maintenance savings).
- Strong TypeScript/JavaScript skills (async/await, Node tooling, npm). Working proficiency in Java to read/refactor Selenium/TestNG codebases.
- Deep understanding of Selenium WebDriver architecture, waits, grid, and differences vs Playwright.
- Practical experience applying AI/LLM tools to testing and familiarity with MCP servers or comparable AI-agent tooling.
- API testing proficiency (REST, JSON schema, auth flows, Postman). Mobile automation experience with Appium and basics of Android Studio/Xcode.
- CI/CD, Docker, Git-based workflows, code review discipline, debugging, documentation, and stakeholder communication skills.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- Playwright component testing and Playwright-BDD or Cucumber.
- Performance testing experience (k6, JMeter, Gatling) and web performance tools (Lighthouse).
- Accessibility testing to WCAG 2.1/2.2 standards.
- Cloud platform familiarity (Azure, AWS, GCP) and observability tooling.
- Test management integrations (Zephyr, Xray, TestRail). Security testing basics (OWASP). ISTQB or equivalent.
