Role
As an AI Data Engineer on the In Vivo Data team, you will design and build an AI-ready data architecture and data products to enable scalable correlation, analysis, and visualization of in vitro and in vivo datasets to support translational drug discovery research.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a data platform for efficient, scalable correlation and analysis of in vitro and in vivo data
- Process, analyze, curate, and integrate internal pharmacodynamics and toxicology datasets and relevant public-domain datasets
- Build data analysis pipelines and ETL workflows; engineer data products optimized for specific access patterns
- Implement, test, and validate new data analysis and visualization methods
- Collaborate with machine learning experts to develop ML methods and data products for translational studies
- Drive external collaborations with companies and academic institutions; present and publish scientific results
- Define in vivo data capture, metadata tagging, and storage strategies and onboard colleagues via workshops, hackathons, and trainings
Requirements
- PhD in Biology, Pharmacology, Toxicology, Computer Science, Physics, Statistics, or related technical discipline OR Master’s degree plus 2+ years building AI-powered research applications
- Experience in in-vivo pharmacology and translational in vivo/in vitro research
- Strong background in data handling, integration, and analysis
- Exceptional programming skills in Python
- Full-stack development experience with emphasis on Python and in-depth database expertise (focus on Postgres) and ETL frameworks
- Strong communication skills (verbal, written, presentation) and demonstrated ability to solve complex analyses/problems in a timely fashion
Preferred Qualifications
- Nextflow pipeline development experience
- Experience processing and analyzing large heterogeneous drug discovery datasets
- Proficiency in front-end technologies (TypeScript, ReactJS) and browser-based visualization techniques
- Familiarity with AI/ML libraries (PyTorch, Lightning) and experience with LLMs/RAG systems
- Experience with Claude Code or equivalent and vibe coding paradigms
- Proven software engineering practices: package development, cloud architectures, CI/CD, and related tooling
- Strong publication record and experience taking prototypes to production
Work Arrangement
- Hybrid role: must live within commuting distance and work on-site an average of 2.5 days per week or more as needed
Compensation & Benefits
- Annual base salary range: $106,000.00 to $171,500.00 (USD)
- Eligible for Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 15% of base salary and participation in share-based long-term incentive program
