Explicitly encourages vibe coding and rapid prototyping with AI tools; builds agentic workflows and LLM-powered developer/user assistants (Claude, LLM APIs).
About the Role
AI Engineer responsible for designing, developing, and shipping internal web applications and AI-powered tools for construction workflows. Build integrations and agentic automation using the Claude API and connect models to SaaS platforms while owning deployment, CI/CD, and collaboration with data and business teams.
Job Description
Role
The AI Engineer will design, develop, and ship internal web applications and AI-powered tools that reduce reliance on third-party SaaS and improve construction project execution. The role focuses on building custom agents, automation pipelines, and productivity apps using LLM APIs (notably Claude/Anthropic) and integrating those models with construction and enterprise SaaS platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and ship production-quality internal web applications (backend and frontend).
- Build AI-powered tools and workflows with the Claude API, including custom agents and automation pipelines.
- Develop and maintain MCP (Model Context Protocol) connections between Claude and SaaS platforms (Procore, Microsoft 365, Monday.com, Box, Autodesk).
- Write production code in Python and/or JavaScript/TypeScript and frontend frameworks such as React or similar.
- Rapidly prototype solutions; iterate quickly using AI development tools and workflows.
- Evaluate emerging AI models, tools, and frameworks and present findings to leadership.
- Research and test AI approaches for construction use cases (estimating, scheduling, safety, field operations, client experience).
- Manage code in GitHub (branching, PRs, code reviews) and own deployment/hosting and CI/CD pipeline setup.
- Partner with the data team to uphold data quality and with department leads to translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Travel occasionally to project sites, offices, and conferences.
Requirements
- 2+ years experience building web applications or software products.
- Proficiency writing production-quality code in Python and/or JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Hands-on experience building with LLM APIs (Claude, GPT, or similar) and having shipped real projects.
- Strong understanding of REST APIs, OAuth, and webhooks for system integration.
- Frontend development experience (React, Next.js, or similar) to build usable apps for non-technical users.
- Comfort working in ambiguous, fast-moving environments and rapid prototyping (“vibe coding”).
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
- Proficiency with Git and GitHub workflows.
- Experience with CI/CD and deployment tooling (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or similar) preferred.
- Experience with Claude/Anthropic API, AI development tools (Cursor, Lovable, Replit, Claude Code), agentic workflows, RAG architectures, or multi-model systems.
- Cloud platform experience (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Familiarity with construction platforms (Procore, Autodesk, Primavera P6, Sage).
- Authorization to work in the U.S.; drug test and background check required.
