About the Role
As an AI Engineer for Financial Services at Sopra Steria you will build and integrate AI-driven features and modern software solutions for banking clients, using LLMs and AI APIs to accelerate development and prototype product features to production. The role combines hands-on engineering, prototyping with AI assistants, and collaboration with architects and business teams across customer sites and offices in Germany.

Role
You will work as an AI Engineer focused on the financial services domain, developing AI-enabled software from concept to production. The role emphasizes integrating Large Language Models and AI APIs into new and existing customer applications, building features like chatbots, intelligent assistants, document automation and compliance workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop modern software solutions leveraging AI tools and “Vibe Coding” approaches from idea to production.
- Integrate LLMs and AI-APIs into customer applications in the banking/financial domain.
- Implement AI-driven features such as chatbots, assistant functions, document automation and compliance workflows.
- Rapidly prototype new ideas and iterate product features, including work on internal AI products.
- Collaborate with AI Solution Architects and business units to turn concepts into scalable, quality-assured solutions.
- Evaluate new tools, models and platforms (e.g., Azure OpenAI, AWS Bedrock, local LLMs).
- Share knowledge through code reviews, tech talks and documentation of reusable patterns.
Requirements
- Completed degree in (business) computer science, physics or mathematics.
- Practical software development experience with one or more of: Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Go or Java.
- Enthusiasm for AI-assisted development and modern coding workflows (e.g., Cursor, Copilot, Claude Code).
- Familiarity with LLM APIs, prompt engineering or common AI frameworks.
- Good understanding of APIs, cloud services (Azure, AWS) and modern software architecture.
- Creativity, curiosity and the ability to quickly turn technologies into prototypes.
- Ideally: experience in financial services or other regulated industries.
- Language: very good German (at least C1) and good English.
Location & Working Model
- Hybrid working within Germany: office locations across Germany, customer sites and home office; limited mobility to defined EU countries for certain periods.
