Job Description
Role
Neurocrine Biosciences is hiring an AI Engineer to design, build, and support scalable AI-powered solutions for enterprise use cases, with a primary focus on LLM-based solutions (e.g., ChatGPT/OpenAI) and flexibility to integrate emerging AI platforms. The role sits within the AI Engineering function and works closely with AI Enablement, IT, security, data teams, and business stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement AI-powered workflows, applications, agent-based systems, orchestration layers, and prompt frameworks using LLMs.
- Build and maintain APIs and services to integrate AI into enterprise systems (examples: ServiceNow, internal tools, data platforms).
- Implement RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) architectures using enterprise data sources and vector databases.
- Contribute to AI system architecture design (model selection, routing, orchestration) and develop modular, reusable, scalable components.
- Develop and maintain enterprise prompt libraries and reusable frameworks; optimize prompts and agent flows for accuracy, consistency, and cost efficiency.
- Support evaluation and testing frameworks (e.g., OpenAI Evals, DeepEval) and build automated pipelines to test accuracy, reliability, and edge-case handling.
- Monitor and improve model performance in production and collaborate on enforcement of data boundaries, access controls, and compliance requirements.
- Partner with business stakeholders to identify and prototype AI use cases and translate business requirements into technical solutions with guidance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2+ years of experience in software engineering or AI/ML engineering (or equivalent combination of education/training).
- Hands-on experience building AI/LLM-based applications and agent/chatflow automation.
- Programming: Python (required); JavaScript/TypeScript preferred.
- Experience with LLM tooling and frameworks: OpenAI APIs, LangChain/LangGraph, Flowise (or similar).
- Backend experience: FastAPI, Node.js; frontend experience with React is a plus.
- Familiarity with Pandas, NumPy, basic ML concepts, RAG pipelines, and vector databases.
- DevOps and engineering fundamentals: Git/GitHub, API design and integration, containerization (Docker preferred).
- Experience working in enterprise environments and exposure to ServiceNow/ITSM workflows, knowledge management, AI governance, security, and compliance.
- Strong problem-solving, systems thinking, communication skills, and experience in Agile/Scrum environments.
Compensation & Benefits
