Databricks is hiring an AI Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) to work with customers across the Netherlands to design, build, and productionize GenAI applications. The role combines hands-on engineering of GenAI systems, technical advising for customers, and cross-functional collaboration to influence product and deployment priorities.

Role
The AI Forward Deployed Engineer (AI FDE) is a customer-facing engineering role focused on delivering and productionizing cutting-edge GenAI solutions. You will work directly with customers to design, deploy, and optimize production-grade GenAI applications, act as a technical advisor, and collaborate with product and engineering teams to shape roadmaps.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deploy GenAI solutions incorporating the latest techniques and Databricks AI research
- Own production rollouts of consumer and internal GenAI applications
- Serve as a trusted technical advisor to customers across domains
- Present at conferences and represent thought leadership externally and internally
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, and developer relations to influence priorities and roadmaps
Requirements
- Hands-on experience building GenAI applications and techniques such as RAG, multi-agent systems, Text2SQL, and fine-tuning
- Experience with tools and frameworks explicitly referenced (e.g., HuggingFace, LangChain, DSPy)
- Proven experience deploying production-grade GenAI applications, including evaluation and optimizations
- Extensive industry data science experience using common tools such as pandas, scikit-learn, and PyTorch
- Experience building production ML deployments on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Graduate degree in a quantitative discipline or equivalent practical experience
- Strong communication skills and experience explaining technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Willingness to travel to customer sites approximately once every 4–8 weeks as needed
Preferred
- Experience using the Databricks Intelligence Platform and Apache Spark to process large-scale distributed datasets

- Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands (role is remote but candidates must be based in the Netherlands region only)
