AI Product Strategy and Automation Engineer

Role

You will operate at the intersection of product, engineering, and business strategy to identify high-value automation opportunities and build AI-powered workflows (primarily using n8n). The role owns discovery, scoping, implementation, quality assurance, governance, measurement, and iteration of automations with direct exposure to senior leadership in a regulated banking environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and ship AI-powered workflows and automations (primarily in n8n) that integrate APIs, connectors, and AI models.
• Conduct stakeholder interviews, synthesize pain points, prioritize opportunities (impact/effort/risk/confidence), and produce clear requirements, acceptance criteria, and rollout plans.
• Establish QA and governance for AI steps: confidence thresholds, sampling, escalation paths, audit trails, documentation, and version control for workflows and prompts.
• Monitor KPIs and internal feedback; track and report impact (hours saved, dollars saved, volume processed) and present insights to product leadership and cross-functional teams.
• Partner with compliance and risk teams to ensure workflows meet regulatory standards and champion responsible AI practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong structured thinking and writing skills; ability to convert messy inputs into clear problem statements, requirements, and prompts with documented assumptions.
• Comfortable with AI-assisted development (“vibe coding”) and able to use AI coding assistants to prototype and iterate.
• Ability to build and ship automations using n8n or similar platforms (Power Automate, Zapier, Make), integrating APIs, triggers, routing, approvals, notifications, and transforms.
• Basic data literacy: use Excel or Sheets to perform opportunity sizing and translate time savings into dollars with explicit assumptions.
• High ownership, bias toward action, experience taking ideas to working outputs, and attention to QA, edge cases, documentation, and rollout.
• Comfort working in a regulated, compliance-driven environment.

Preferred

• Hands-on experience with n8n, Power Automate, Zapier, or Make.
• Familiarity with Python, SQL, JSON, and reading/interpreting API documentation.
• Experience with product management practices (requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria).
• Interest or experience in governance, risk, compliance, consulting, or AI/ML concepts and responsible AI practices.
