Role
Anthropic’s Beneficial Deployments team seeks an Applied AI Architect focused on life sciences to maximize the impact of Claude across research institutions, biotech, and pharma. The role advises partners end-to-end, helps transform organizations into AI-native teams, and leads scalable engagements from discovery through deployment.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary technical advisor to life sciences research institutions and mission-driven organizations throughout their Claude adoption journey.
- Translate scientific workflows end-to-end into impactful AI solutions and partner with segment leads and Applied AI Engineers to deliver impact.
- Design and lead cohort-based accelerators to scale expertise across multiple institutions.
- Identify deployment challenges in life sciences and communicate findings to product, engineering, and research teams.
- Spot cross-partner patterns to inform ecosystem-level work, including MCP servers for domain-specific data, scientifically grounded benchmarks and evals, and reusable agent skills.
- Create technical presentations, demos, documentation, tutorials, and sample code to enable scalable adoption.
- Travel occasionally to partner sites for workshops, technical deep dives, and relationship-building.
- Help shape team processes and culture as the team grows.
Requirements
- 8+ years in a technical role, ideally with customer-facing exposure (e.g., Solutions Architect, Customer Engineer, Sales Engineer, Technical Account Manager, Product Engineer, Forward Deployed Engineer).
- Experience in life sciences, biomedical research, or scientific computing; bonus for genomics, neuroscience, or drug discovery domain experience.
- Experience working with or building trust in academic research institutions, biotech, pharma, or mission-driven scientific organizations.
- Familiarity with common LLM implementation patterns, including prompt and context engineering, evaluation frameworks, agent architectures, and retrieval frameworks.
- Strong communication, teaching/mentoring skills, and the ability to operate in ambiguous, scrappy environments.
- Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
Logistics
- Location-based hybrid policy: staff are expected to be in one of Anthropic’s offices at least 25% of the time; some roles may require more office time.
- Anthropic is headquartered in San Francisco and sponsors visas when possible; the company retains immigration legal support.
Compensation
- Annual Salary: £165,000 — £190,000 GBP
