Role
As an Applied AI Engineer, you will act as a technical advisor and hands-on partner for high-growth, tech-forward companies building on the Claude Developer Platform. You will lead deep technical engagements, design scalable agent architectures, develop prototypes and evaluation frameworks, and work closely with Anthropic product and engineering teams to enable customer success.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a deep technical advisor to customer engineering teams and technical founders
- Work hands-on with customers via pair programming, architecture reviews, and code contributions
- Develop prototypes, evaluation suites, technical documentation, tutorials, and sample code
- Design scalable architectures, agent designs, prompting/context strategies, and evaluation frameworks
- Collaborate with Applied AI Architects, Account Executives, Product, and Engineering to maintain continuity across engagements
- Identify cross-engagement patterns and feed insights back to Product and Engineering teams
- Foster developer community engagement through hackathons, webinars, office hours, and workshops
- Travel to customer sites for workshops, implementation support, and relationship-building
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience as a Software Engineer, Forward Deployed Engineer, or technical founder
- Experience in customer-facing or pre-sales technical roles, partnering with customers to scope, design, and deliver solutions
- Production experience building LLM-powered applications, including prompting, context engineering, agent architectures, evaluation frameworks, and deployment at scale
- Strong programming skills and experience building production applications in Python
- Experience working with high-growth, tech-forward companies and ability to context-switch across industries (e.g., healthcare, fintech)
- Strong technical communication skills and ability to translate complex AI concepts into architectures and actionable implementation plans
- Experience facilitating technical workshops, hackathons, or developer-focused events
- Passion for AI safety and building technology that is safe and beneficial
Compensation
- Annual Salary: £225,000 — £255,000 GBP

- Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience
- Location-based hybrid policy: staff are expected to be in an Anthropic office at least 25% of the time
- Anthropic sponsors visas in many cases and provides immigration/legal support when feasible
