Business Data Analyst at Logistics Services Startup

Role

Business Data Analyst (entry to intermediate) supporting logistics businesses by analyzing operational data to drive performance, peace of mind, profitability, and growth. This is the first hire for a new line of business with a clear growth path toward managing multiple analysts.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily and weekly data pulls across multiple accounts and metrics.
• Identify trends and summarize insights to inform business decisions.
• Detect high- and low-performing employees and produce documented feedback.
• Identify and correct or escalate inaccurate data.
• Present findings, visualizations, and recommendations to customers and prospects.
• Support business development by helping obtain and maintain clients through high-quality service and communication.
• Assist with recruiting, training, and developing future analysts; eventually manage a team of analysts.

Requirements

• Relevant college degree or technical/online certification preferred; outstanding candidates without formal credentials may be considered.
• Basic proficiency in mathematics (statistics, algebra; basic calculus helpful).
• 1–2+ years in a similar role preferred.
• Required: proficiency in Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets and willingness to demonstrate Excel skills in the interview (pivot tables, formulas, filtering, conditional formatting, graphs, data presentation).
• Preferred: experience with Tableau, Power BI, Splunk or similar visualization/analytics tools.
• Knowledge or experience with coding, SQL, AI/vibe coding is a plus.

Compensation & Schedule

• Pay: $50,000 – $65,000 per year.
• Hours: roughly 9am–5pm, Monday–Friday; expected 40 hours/week but may vary with business needs.
• Job types: Full-time or Part-time.

Location & Onsite Requirements

• Must be located around Nashville, TN / La Vergne, TN.
• Mostly remote with initial in-person training (1–2 weeks) and approximately one day per week onsite thereafter in Nashville or La Vergne; schedule may evolve with business needs.
