Role
The Chief Design Engineer — Structural provides technical leadership for complex structural engineering projects, supports growth of the Structural Practice in India, and advances AI-driven innovation and process improvements to improve design quality and delivery efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide advanced structural engineering support across market sectors including automotive, EV/battery, industrial, commercial, advanced manufacturing, data centers, semiconductors, and process industries.
- Lead and support execution of large, complex structural engineering projects, ensuring alignment with budgets, schedules, and multidisciplinary requirements.
- Mentor, coach, and develop engineers at all levels; build and shape a high-performing structural engineering team in India.
- Review, validate, and guide structural engineering deliverables; ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards.
- Improve tools, software utilization, design workflows, and reference standards; promote standardized practices across offices and regions.
- Provide high-level technical consulting and advisory support to clients and internal stakeholders; participate in peer reviews.
- Support business development and proposal efforts with technical input.
- Drive adoption and secure integration of AI-assisted engineering tools and automation initiatives.
- Identify opportunities for innovation, efficiency, and long-term strategic growth in the structural practice.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Master’s degree or PhD in Structural Engineering (leading institutes preferred); Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred; additional certifications or global registrations advantageous.
- 15+ years of structural engineering experience with demonstrated leadership and multidisciplinary coordination.
- Experience supporting projects in the U.S. region; ability to travel (U.S. B1/B2 visa is an advantage).
- Strong leadership, communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills; fluent English.
- Proven track record in improving technical quality, mentoring teams, and building capability.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of international building codes and standards (U.S. preferred) including IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI, AISC 341.
- Expertise in structural analysis and design tools such as RISA, RAM, STAAD.
- Working knowledge of BIM tools such as Revit and Tekla.
- Experience with peer reviews of complex engineering designs and familiarity with AI-driven engineering tools and automation.
