Consultant, Product Development & Data Analytics SME

Role

Hybrid product development and data analytics consultant. The role is split roughly 50/50 between (1) building and maintaining internal applications using AI-directed development and modern web/data stacks, and (2) delivering client-facing analytics, dashboards, and reports to support consulting engagements.

Key Responsibilities

• Track 1 — Internal Product Development (~50%):

  • Translate business requirements into design specifications and user stories.
  • Use AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot) as the primary development workflow to build and iterate on applications.
  • Build and maintain web applications across a Next.js / Vercel / Snowflake / Python stack.
  • Develop automated test scripts and QA processes (e.g., Playwright).
  • Manage deployments, database schemas, API integrations, and version control via GitHub.
  • Rapidly prototype new tools and features based on consultant and client feedback.

• Track 2 — Client-Facing Analytics & Reporting (~50%):

  • Partner with consultants to understand client data needs and analytical requirements.
  • Build dashboards and reports using Tableau, Power BI, or custom solutions.
  • Work with client IT teams to understand data sources, system architectures, and integration requirements.
  • Analyze operational datasets (call volumes, handle times, staffing models, process cycle times) and create presentation-ready visualizations.
  • Support development of reusable analytical frameworks and templates.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of relevant experience in product development, data analytics, application development, or technical consulting.
• Demonstrated use of AI coding assistants (Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar) to build and ship working software.
• Familiarity with Next.js (or React), Python, SQL, Snowflake (or similar cloud data warehouse such as Amazon Redshift), and deployment platforms (Vercel or AWS Amplify).
• Proficiency with Excel and at least one enterprise data visualization tool (Tableau, Power BI, or R).
• Solid understanding of relational databases, data modeling, and working with large operational datasets.
• Ability to write clear design specifications and technical documentation.
• Strong communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate with client IT teams.
• Bachelor’s degree required.

Logistics

• Location: Chicago, IL — in-office 3 days per week.
• Travel: Occasional travel to client sites as needed.
