About the Role

As an Applied AI Customer Engineer III at Google Cloud, you will design and lead enterprise Conversational AI solutions, build PoCs/MVPs, and integrate AI systems with customer data and third-party stacks. You will partner with Sales and product teams to present technical recommendations to both technical and executive stakeholders and drive adoption of Google Cloud Generative AI offerings.

Job Description

Role

As an Applied AI Customer Engineer on Google Cloud, you will provide technical expertise in Conversational AI and customer experience. You will act as the lead architect for advanced conversational frameworks, bridge business challenges to Generative AI solutions, and partner with Sales to differentiate Google Cloud in high-stakes customer engagements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor and solution architect for prospective and existing customers.
  • Design cloud-native, resilient, and scalable architectures that integrate AI solutions with enterprise data stacks and third-party systems (e.g., CRM, ticketing, telephony).
  • Lead rapid development of Proofs of Concept (PoCs) and Minimum Viable Products (MVPs) to demonstrate Google Cloud Applied AI solutions.
  • Troubleshoot technical roadblocks and recommend end-to-end integration strategies.
  • Collaborate with product management and engineering to prioritize customer-driven features and share AI expertise through briefings and advocacy.
  • Present business value of Applied AI solutions to executive leadership and represent Google Cloud at industry events.

Requirements

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience designing cloud-native, enterprise-grade technical architecture in customer-facing or support roles.
  • 1 year of experience with Conversational AI technologies, including designing conversational flows/agents and operating STT/TTS.
  • Experience building or leveraging AI solutions, ML APIs, prompting, agent tooling, evaluation frameworks, and modern AI frameworks and embedding them into demos.
  • Demonstrated experience engaging with and presenting to technical stakeholders and executive leadership.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience building conversational applications and integrating them with third-party tooling (CRM, ticketing, telephony platforms).
  • Experience coding in Java, C++, or Python and expertise in vibe coding.
  • Familiarity with Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), machine learning templates, and document/image AI.
  • Understanding of modern development methodologies and application performance tuning.

Compensation & Locations

  • US base salary range: $165,000 - $245,000 (base only). Compensation may include bonus, equity, and benefits. Final pay varies by role, level, and location.
  • Preferred/available US locations include: New York, NY; Boulder, CO; Cambridge, MA; Chicago, IL; Kirkland, WA; Mountain View, CA; Reston, VA; Seattle, WA; San Francisco, CA; Sunnyvale, CA; Washington, D.C.
