Role
Nutrien is hiring a Senior Cybersecurity Engineer (individual contributor) to elevate security operations and advance cybersecurity capabilities across a global enterprise. The role owns engineering, maintenance, integration, and troubleshooting of security platforms while supporting vulnerability management and driving automation and process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee health, performance, and integration of cybersecurity platforms; perform advanced troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
- Design and integrate new security capabilities: assess gaps, evaluate technologies, plan and execute integrations without disrupting operations.
- Support vulnerability management: run scans and assessments, contextualize and prioritize findings, drive remediation to closure, and maintain dashboards and metrics.
- Coordinate with vendors and stakeholders for support, upgrades, and architectural changes; act as technical liaison for security technologies.
- Coordinate remediation efforts across server, network, application, and cloud teams; translate findings into actionable remediation plans.
- Drive automation and process improvement: develop scripts/workflows, integrate tools with ITSM systems and CI/CD pipelines, and automate reporting and remediation where possible.
- Track and present security metrics (MTTR, tool coverage, remediation SLAs, compliance) and lead continuous improvement and lessons-learned activities.
- Mentor and upskill cybersecurity analysts and engineers; share best practices and troubleshooting approaches.
- Participate in a rotating on-call schedule for 24/7 operational support, incident response, and service outage handling.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Security, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience: 6+ years of significant cybersecurity experience with depth in security engineering, operations, and vulnerability management in complex environments.
- Technical expertise in operating and optimizing security platforms and vulnerability assessment techniques (network, system, and application scanning).
- Strong knowledge of enterprise IT infrastructure (operating systems, networks, cloud services, databases) and related security controls.
- Experience with automation or scripting (examples cited: Python, PowerShell) to automate tasks or integrate systems.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills; ability to work cross-functionally.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree is an asset.
- Experience with cybersecurity platforms and technologies: SIEM, SOAR, EDR, vulnerability scanners, cloud security posture management, cyber asset management.
- Familiarity with infrastructure components and protocols: domain controllers, certificate authorities, DNS, IPv4/IPv6, containers, AWS, Azure.
- Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, OSCP, CEH, or GIAC are valued.
- Advanced scripting/integration skills, experience integrating security checks into CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices.
- AI concentration: familiarity with building custom AI models, related development practices, and “vibe coding” approaches.
