About the Role

The Data Scientist will design, implement, and evaluate statistical and AI/ML solutions to extract actionable insights and improve product safety decision-making. The role focuses on semantic analysis, model development for anomaly detection and classification, and deploying interpretable, scalable solutions in Azure cloud environments.

Job Description

Role

Elder Research is hiring a Data Scientist to contribute to the design and implementation of advanced statistical and AI/ML solutions that support an AI-powered product safety Sentinel model. The role emphasizes semantic analysis, insight extraction, model interpretability, and operationalizing models in modern cloud environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Insight Extraction & Semantic Analysis: Use semantic coding techniques to uncover patterns from structured and unstructured data and translate findings into actionable narratives through data storytelling and visualization.
  • Model Development & Evaluation: Design, implement, and maintain AI/ML techniques (including product similarity approaches), predictive models for anomaly detection, classification, regression, and pattern recognition; evaluate models with metrics such as precision, recall, F1-score, and AUC to ensure reliability and fairness.
  • Innovation & Efficiency: Explore emerging technologies and novel methodologies to improve workflows; employ tools like GitHub Copilot, automated pipelines, and CI/CD to streamline development, deployment, and scaling in cloud environments.
  • Collaboration: Work within Agile teams, use Git-based version control, and communicate results effectively to stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3+ years designing, developing, and deploying statistical and AI/ML models (regression, classification, NLP, predictive analytics).
  • Hands-on Python experience (including Pandas, Scikit-learn, PyTorch/TensorFlow).
  • 3+ years working in cloud environments (Azure); certifications are a plus.
  • 2+ years using SQL for data querying and manipulation.
  • Proficiency with dashboard/visualization tools (Power BI or equivalent).
  • Experience with Git-based version control and contributing in Agile teams.
  • Strong oral and written communication for data storytelling.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or equivalent professional experience in Data Science, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.

Clearance & Eligibility

  • Current Public Trust desired; candidate must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance prior to starting.
