About the Role
SSOE is hiring a Department Manager to lead and grow its Project Management department in the India market, overseeing all PM teams, standards, and delivery for industrial, manufacturing, healthcare, semiconductor and commercial projects. The role combines departmental leadership, talent development, VDC and Lean implementation, cross-border coordination with US operations, and adoption of AI tools to improve productivity.

Role
Department Manager — Project Management responsible for leading SSOE’s Project Management teams and operations in the India market, ensuring technical competency, consistent delivery, and alignment with corporate objectives.
AI and Innovation
SSOE provides responsible access to industry-leading Large Language Models and vibe-coding platforms and delivers training and support so staff can incorporate AI into workflows to increase productivity and streamline processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and oversight for Section Managers and Project Management staff (APMs, PMs, SPMs, PMAs, PCs) across India.
- Develop and implement departmental standards, processes, and performance metrics aligned with strategic growth goals.
- Champion corporate policies and ensure positive implementation across teams.
- Evolve and implement Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) paradigms and continue Visual Planning and other Lean Operating Strategy components.
- Design and execute scalable hiring, training, and development frameworks; establish mentorship and on-the-job training programs.
- Coordinate with US operations to train India teams for execution of US-based projects.
- Facilitate monthly financial reviews (earned margin adjustments, revenue recognition, WIP, billing, reserves) and develop recovery plans for at-risk projects.
- Monitor departmental budgets, staffing plans, workload forecasts, and support business development and proposal activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering.
- Minimum of 20 years of related experience with at least 10 years of leadership experience.
- Proven leadership in developing strategic plans and growing a practice.
- Experience leading diverse and international teams; remote teams experience preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated cross-discipline and multi-national coordination capabilities.
- Demonstrated change agility, mental agility, and people agility; effective coach and mentor.
- Familiarity with Lean Construction Institute practices and Lean Operating Strategy principles.
Preferred/Additional Traits
- Ability to serve as technical liaison for large industrial facility designs.
- Experience implementing VDC and Visual Planning components.
- Comfortable with ambiguous and complex problem spaces and leading change initiatives.
