About the Role
DEUTZ AG is hiring a DevOps & Kubernetes Engineer to build and operate an on-premises Kubernetes platform, automate GitOps workflows, and standardize deployments to improve developer experience and secure, repeatable operations. The role focuses on Helm chart templating, ArgoCD-based GitOps, container registry management, and automation to support Vibe Coded applications.
Job Description
Role
As a DevOps & Kubernetes Engineer you will build, operate and evolve DEUTZ’s on-premises Kubernetes platform and associated automation to enable secure, standardized deployments and a strong developer experience for Vibe Coded applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and improve On-Prem Kubernetes clusters
- Build, maintain and optimize GitOps workflows using ArgoCD
- Create, maintain and standardize Helm charts and reusable Helm-Chart-templates
- Manage the container registry (Harbor)
- Administer and use Gitea for repositories, branching strategies, PRs and code reviews
- Implement automated checks (linting, policy checks, manifest/Helm validation)
- Introduce and enforce coding guidelines, naming conventions and folder structures via pipelines
- Create blueprint/starter repositories for typical services (starter-repos)
- Automate recurring tasks such as release processes, tagging, versioning and rollbacks
- Build self-service mechanisms (templates, scripts, documentation) for developers
- Implement monitoring and logging solutions for Kubernetes workloads
- Collaborate closely with development teams to improve developer experience and GitOps processes
- Document architecture, processes and standards and transfer knowledge within the team
Requirements
- Degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics or comparable qualification, or relevant professional experience
- Solid hands-on experience with Kubernetes (preferably On-Prem)
- Practical GitOps experience, especially with ArgoCD
- Confident use of Helm (chart creation, templating, versioning, best practices)
- Experience with container technologies (Docker, OCI) and Harbor or similar registries
- Good knowledge of Git and experience with Gitea or comparable platforms (GitLab, GitHub, Bitbucket)
- Experience with CI/CD concepts and automation (scripts or pipelines)
- Strong focus on developer experience, automation and standardization
- High quality standards for code, configuration and documentation; interest in cleanup and refactoring
- Independent, structured working style plus strong team and communication skills
- Good German and English language skills (written and spoken)

Working Hours & Location
- Location: Köln (Cologne), company HQ
- 35 hours/week (full-time), personal working time account and flexible flextime model
