About the Role
Undergraduate placement building digital dashboards, lightweight web tools and prototypes to support decision-making at real power plants. Work hands-on with operational data (cleaning, transforming, visualising) and collaborate with engineers to deliver fast, AI-enabled solutions using tools like Microsoft Power Platform / Power BI and HTML.
Job Description
Role
You will join Uniper’s Energy Assets digital team to design and build dashboards, lightweight applications and web-based tools that support decision-making across operational power plants and energy assets. The role focuses on practical delivery: connecting, cleaning and transforming operational data into meaningful insights and turning concepts into working solutions within short timeframes.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build digital dashboards and tools that support decision-making across power plants and energy assets
- Work hands-on with operational data: connect, clean and transform data from multiple systems
- Develop lightweight applications, prototypes and web-based tools to solve business problems quickly
- Collaborate with engineers and site teams to translate operational challenges into practical digital solutions
- Improve processes by increasing transparency, reducing manual effort and enabling performance tracking
- Take ownership of tasks and move ideas from concept to working solutions in short iteration cycles
- Contribute to a fast-evolving digital environment that encourages experimentation and learning
Requirements
Essential
- Experience with Microsoft Power Platform / Power BI and understanding of data visualisation principles
- Basic knowledge of HTML and some exposure to web application structure
- Interest in building solutions, not just analysing data
- Fast learner, proactive and self-driven with the ability to take initiative
- Structured problem-solving and ability to break down problems into deliverable solutions
- Curiosity about modern development approaches, including rapid, AI-assisted development (“vibe coding”)
Desirable
- Interest in AI tools and how they can accelerate development and problem-solving
- Understanding of how digitalisation improves business processes and decision-making
- Willingness to occasionally visit operational sites for real-world context
Location
The role can be based at either the Birmingham or Nottingham office.
