Director Fleet Intelligence & Optimization Lead (m/f/d)

Role

Lead the automated fleet optimization and intelligence stream for a global multi-hundred-thousand vehicle fleet, driving AI-powered decision systems and ensuring optimal fleet utilization across demand, revenue forecasts, costs, contractual constraints, and operational limits. Act as a functional leader responsible for prioritizing central initiatives, embedding Data Science where appropriate, and delivering measurable business impact.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and prioritize high-impact fleet optimization projects and central initiatives.
• Design, validate, and iterate optimization models and AI-based decision systems.
• Ensure statistical rigor by challenging assumptions and securing statistical relevance in data- and AI-driven approaches.
• Support colleagues with Python expertise to harden low-code or AI-assisted prototypes (e.g., Cursor) into production-ready code.
• Drive end-to-end ownership from problem definition to measurable outcome, balancing model sophistication, data availability, and time-to-market.

Requirements

• Proven experience applying statistics and optimization techniques to real-world operational problems (mobility, logistics, or similar preferred).
• Advanced skills in SQL and Python and experience integrating data products and optimization logic into production systems.
• Strong experiment-driven, agile mindset focused on business impact, pragmatic trade-offs, and time-to-market.
• Leadership and ownership of topics with the ability to prioritize and steer cross-functional work.
• Fluent English; German is a plus.
