You will guide a distributed engineering team to deliver scalable, high-performance, user-centric web applications and APIs using modern JavaScript stacks.

Role
Lead the full-stack development and technical direction of blu, Horizon’s mission-critical, client-facing operating system. Own architecture, development, scalability, performance, and the user experience while managing a multidisciplinary and distributed engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect, develop, and scale the blu platform using React and Node.js.
- Translate wireframes and designs into user-facing features with a focus on performance, accessibility, and responsiveness.
- Design and maintain resilient RESTful APIs and microservices.
- Lead and mentor onshore and offshore/nearshore developers; run code reviews, architecture discussions, and sprint planning.
- Establish and enforce engineering best practices, testable and well-documented code, and high technical quality standards.
- Collaborate with UX, Product, DevOps, and QA to improve CI/CD pipelines and ensure security, scalability, and maintainability.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
- 10+ years of software/UI development experience and 6+ years of full-stack development experience with team leadership.
- Proven experience managing and mentoring offshore/nearshore teams.
- Expert proficiency with React, JavaScript/TypeScript, and modern front-end tooling (Webpack, Vite, Babel).
- Strong experience with Node.js and server-side frameworks such as Express.
- Extensive experience building and integrating RESTful APIs.
- Familiarity with cloud services (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- Proficient with SQL and/or NoSQL databases (examples: PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
- Solid understanding of CI/CD principles and version control systems (e.g., Git, GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
- Experience with vibe-coding platforms (Cursor, Replit, Lovable, Bolt).
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
Nice-to-Have
- Media or adTech industry experience.
- Experience building UI for conversational platforms using ChatGPT/Claude/Gemini APIs.
- Experience with AI frameworks (A2A, MCP), GraphQL, WebSockets, Docker, Kubernetes, i18n, and accessibility best practices.
Location and Working Model
Remote-friendly role (#LI-REMOTE); company headquarters in New York City with offices in Los Angeles and Toronto. The role involves leading distributed onshore and offshore/nearshore teams.
Salary & Benefits
- Salary range: $180,000 - $210,000 base.
