Role
SSOE is hiring an Electrical Department Manager to lead its Electrical Engineering Department in India, supporting a portfolio of U.S.-based clients across industrial, semiconductor, battery, pharmaceutical, data center, healthcare, institutional, and commercial markets. The manager will lead technical delivery, people development, process improvements, and business-support activities for a 20+ FTE team.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Supervision: implement departmental vision; coach, supervise, and manage Section Managers, Master Engineers, and staff; handle resource planning, hiring, development, promotions, and performance management.
- Technical Oversight: ensure technical competency and quality of electrical engineering deliverables; provide technical leadership for power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, grounding, and telecommunications systems; apply relevant codes/standards; provide escalation support for complex technical issues.
- Standards & Process Improvement: develop and implement discipline standards, recordkeeping, and continuous improvement; drive consistent use of standard design tools, calculation methods (e.g., SKM, ETAP, AGi32), and templates; champion BIM, VDC, automation, and AI in delivery.
- Project & Resource Management: prepare and monitor project schedules and workload forecasts; collaborate with Project Managers on budgets and financial KPIs; ensure deliverables meet scope, schedule, budget, and quality requirements.
- Strategic & Business Development: support account maintenance and business development; assist with proposals and presentations; identify opportunities to expand capabilities and market presence.
- Training & Development: identify training needs; develop and implement training programs in coordination with Training & Development; mentor engineers and support succession planning.
- Technology & AI: operate within virtual design environments and electrical-specific software; use AI or similar digital technologies as part of job functions.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience: minimum of twenty (20) years of related experience with at least five (5) years of leadership experience; demonstrated experience delivering projects for U.S.-based clients and working with international workforces.
- Technical Knowledge: strong knowledge of U.S. electrical codes, standards, and design practices; familiarity with power system analysis tools and electrical design software.
- Leadership & Interpersonal: demonstrated ability to develop strategic plans, lead diverse and remote teams, and manage people operations for a large team.
- Communication: strong verbal and written communication skills; proven cross-discipline and multinational coordination and collaboration skills.
