Electrical Designer
Uses vibe-coding platforms and industry LLMs; company provides training and integrates AI tools into daily design workflows.
About the Role
SSOE Group is hiring an Electrical Designer to develop low- to medium-voltage electrical designs for semiconductor tool installations, power distribution, and cleanroom facilities. The role focuses on detailed calculations (short-circuit, voltage drop), conduit/conductor sizing, cable tray fills, code compliance, and cross-discipline collaboration to support advanced semiconductor manufacturing projects.
Job Description
Role
As an Electrical Designer you will develop electrical designs and technical documentation that support tool installation packages, power distribution, subfab rack and lateral design, and cleanroom/facility modifications for semiconductor manufacturing projects. You will perform low- to medium-voltage electrical design tasks, ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes, and collaborate with engineers, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce detailed electrical design drawings and technical documentation for process equipment installations, tool hookups, and facility upgrades.
- Determine conduit, conductor, and wire sizing based on current loads and environmental conditions.
- Assess and specify cable tray fills to ensure proper cable management and future scalability.
- Perform short circuit and voltage drop calculations to size protective devices and verify system stability.
- Ensure designs comply with local, state, and national electrical codes and company standards.
- Apply established electrical design techniques (load flow analysis, fault current calculations) and adapt concepts as needed.
- Collaborate with Designers, Senior Engineers, Project Managers, and multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, structural, process/chemical, architectural) to resolve complex issues.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in engineering or architectural fields preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency in AutoCAD required; experience with Revit, ETAP, SKM PowerTools, and/or EasyPower is a plus.
- Ability to produce power distribution schematics, panel schedules, lighting and grounding plans, and other system diagrams.
- Proficient in interpreting electrical one-line diagrams and creating construction documents.
- Knowledge of electrical codes and standards (e.g., National Electric Code, NFPA).
- Experience with distribution panel loading, short circuit analysis, voltage drop calculations, conduit and conductor sizing, and cable tray fills.
AI & Tools
- The company provides access and training to AI Large Language Models and vibe-coding platforms, and securely integrates AI-enabled tools into workflows to increase productivity and streamline design tasks.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $50,000 - $100,000 per year (depends on location, education, experience, and certifications).
- Benefits include comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance; life insurance; 401(k) with company matching; professional development and training (including licensure and certification support); generous PTO and paid holidays.
Work Arrangement
- Position listed as hybrid (#LI-Hybrid); specific onsite/remote expectations depend on project and location.
