Role
Micron is seeking an SSD Validation Engineer to join the SSD Validation Engineering team and contribute to the validation and release of client SSD products. The engineer will own aspects of the product validation lifecycle, implement and improve test strategies, and work cross-functionally with R&D, Quality, and Manufacturing to ensure high quality and timely product delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Understand product lifecycle and applicable industry standards.
- Review and improve existing test plans, coverage, and testing activities to increase effectiveness and efficiency.
- Recommend and implement new validation approaches for improved end-to-end coverage and accuracy.
- Define test cases, PASS/FAIL criteria (cycles, statistical, temperature), and validation strategies that cover functional and non-functional requirements.
- Plan test schedules and validation flows to meet project scope and delivery dates.
- Define test implementation strategy and software architecture for development and debug, including test automation strategies and in-house frameworks/tools.
- Execute product validation plans, monitor and reduce test time, analyze results (e.g., bin Pareto), and generate clear reports with findings.
- Track document revisions and maintain historical references.
- Perform root-cause analysis and drive defect resolution while providing reproducible steps and traceability to bugs and escapes.
- Leverage AI tools and AI-assisted coding techniques to improve efficiency and automate workflows.
Requirements
- BS in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of validation experience with demonstrated ability to design and implement product test strategies.
- Deep knowledge of PCIe SSDs, NAND, memory storage hierarchy, and the NVMe protocol.
- Strong Python scripting experience.
- Ability to analyze problems, diagnose root causes, and apply corrective actions.
- Experience leveraging AI-assisted (vibe) coding techniques and AI tools to automate tools and workflows and improve build efficiency.
