Role
SSOE is hiring an Engineering Group Manager to build, lead, and scale the India Engineering Global Capability Center (GCC). The role is responsible for establishing India as a trusted extension of SSOE’s global delivery model by driving technical standards, quality, resourcing, cross-office collaboration, and leadership development.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and operational leadership across all engineering disciplines in the India office.
- Ensure consistent application of engineering standards, design procedures, quality processes, and best practices.
- Oversee technical reviews, peer reviews, quality assurance, and discipline-specific workflows, templates, and quality management systems.
- Promote innovation, digital engineering, model-based design (e.g., BIM/Revit), and emerging technologies.
- Build and maintain relationships with U.S.-based engineering, project, operations, and business leaders; act as primary liaison between India and U.S. operations.
- Lead development and growth of the India Engineering Capability Center, align capabilities with business needs, and drive standardization across global teams.
- Manage, mentor, and coach engineers and managers; create development plans, support hiring/onboarding, and develop leadership pipelines.
- Plan and allocate resources, monitor schedules and workload forecasts, and resolve resource bottlenecks across projects and disciplines.
- Coordinate with other international offices to share resources, tools, and best practices and to improve inter-office communication.
- Support business performance through budgeting, profitability monitoring, proposal support, and operational improvements.
- Partner with Corporate & Information Systems to evaluate hardware/software and emerging technology needs; promote adoption of AI-assisted tools (e.g., Copilot, Abacus) and automation.
- Serve as project sponsor for high-priority projects, support client objectives, and participate in post-project reviews to capture lessons learned.
Requirements
Education & Professional Registration
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required; Master’s in Engineering, Engineering Management, MBA, or related preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE), Chartered Engineer (CEng), or equivalent registration is desirable.
Experience
- 25+ years of progressive engineering consulting, design, and project delivery experience.
- Minimum 10 years of leadership experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Experience in technical leadership roles, developing leadership teams, and supporting global delivery models or shared services/capability centers is highly desirable.
- Preferred sector experience: industrial facilities, advanced manufacturing, semiconductor, data center, pharmaceutical, life sciences, energy, or similar.
Leadership Competencies
