ETL Architect with Hadoop

Role

ETL Architect (Data Architect I) responsible for leading development and maintenance of large enterprise application systems that support a client’s member platform. The role focuses on architecture, technical design, implementation oversight, and cross-team coordination for enterprise systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain active relationships with customers to gather and validate business requirements; lead requirements meetings and review design proposals.
• Anticipate and plan for broad technical changes to keep technology current with industry developments.
• Prioritize projects and make trade-offs aligned with business objectives.
• Lead technology evaluations and participate in proof-of-concept initiatives.
• Own the change request process and coordinate implementation across teams.
• Develop and define application scope and objectives; supervise preparation of technical and functional specifications.
• Conduct technical design and code reviews; ensure unit and system testing meet test plans and quality standards.

Technical Scope

• Design and develop modern ETL jobs using Hadoop or AWS EMR and Python; work with relational and non-relational databases.
• Architect large web applications using Web 2.0 technologies (JavaScript, AngularJS, NodeJS, Java, CSS, HTML) and mobile applications in React Native.
• Design microservices-based APIs and service mesh architectures; use container platforms such as EKS and public cloud platforms like AWS.
• Implement DevOps process automation (Bitbucket, Bamboo, SonarQube, Checkmarx) and adopt test automation tools (qTest, WebDriverIO, Lambda Test).
• Implement system instrumentation and monitoring using tools like Splunk, DataDog, or Instana.
• Perform modern development workflows including code review, unit testing, and system testing.

Requirements

• BA/BS in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent education/experience.
• Relevant experience (years not specified in posting) with multi-dimensional platforms and business/technical applications.
• Experience mentoring teams, leading multiple or large projects, and providing hands-on development and troubleshooting support.
• Multi-database and multi-language experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in object-oriented design, EKS, and public cloud platforms (AWS).
• Experience with JavaScript/AngularJS/NodeJS/Java/CSS/HTML and React Native for mobile application architecture.
• Experience designing microservices, service mesh, and developing ETL on Hadoop or AWS EMR using Python.
• Experience implementing DevOps automation and SAFe Agile practices; familiarity with JIRA and Agilecraft.
• Experience with test automation practices and monitoring/instrumentation tools.
• Experience with vibe coding using modern IDEs and AI agents (Cursor, Windsurf, GitHub Copilot) is strongly preferred; AI-first SDLC experience is a plus.

Compensation

• Range provided: $140,000 - $210,000 per year (amounts provided by employer).
